Welcome to the Mile Failte 1200. Irelands friendliest bike ride. It will be “Ireland by bike” as you have never seen it before. Over 1200 kilometres of our finest scenery. From the lakes of killarney and the Shannon estuary to the majestic Burren and much more.

An event designed for the very experienced cyclist and run under the rules of the Audax Club Parisien. It incorporates 10,800 metres of climbing over 1,200 kilometres distance, reaching a high of 400 metres on moderately challenging gradients. The time for completion is 90 hours.

The Route

Day 1-373.4km

A 6am start from the Mile Failte HQ in Killarney, takes you on the quieter roads to Tralee. From here you head for the Killimer/Tarbert ferry, where you will cross the majestic Shannon estuary. If you are lucky, you may be escorted to Clare by some of our resident dolphins.

day 2-300.8km

After leaving Killarney, the route for day 2 takes you to Charleville and then mallow. From there you make your way to Macroom and back to Killarney. Day 2 is noticeably shorter than previous years. This is to give a somewhat easier day, where you can enjoy some of the quieter inland scenery.

day 3-346.3km

Day 3 is arguably the toughest day of the Mile Failte. With over 600 kms completed, day 3 is going to be a real test of strength and stamina. Starting again from killarney. The route goes through Kenmare, Waterville, Castlemaine, and Dingle. The route from Dingle forms a loop.

Day 4-240km

Day 4 and the final stage of your Mile Failte adventure. This time you head north again to the seaside town of Ballybunion. Listowel is your next destination followed by Newcastle west, Newmarket and finally, your return to killarney. Bring your journey to an end.

From quiet country lanes to the busier “Ring of Kerry”, this route seamlessly blends together, world famous vistas with the hidden treasures of rural ireland. An event designed for the experienced cyclist, organised by Audax Ireland, and run in accordance with the rules of Audax Club Parisian.

The ride has manned overnight controls in Killarney where riders can be accommodated in pre-booked hostels and hotels.

The Míile Fáilte is a non-commercial international cycling event run by a small number of volunteers. Billed as the longest and friendliest event.

We're inviting you to join an event that takes in over 1200km through our finest scenery.
